The Arena Football League and the NFL Opportunity
Warner’s break came when he joined the Arena Football League (AFL) in 1995, playing for the Iowa Barnstormers. While it wasn’t the NFL, Warner saw this as an opportunity to keep his dream alive. He worked hard, honing his skills and leading his team to two ArenaBowl appearances. His success in the AFL caught the attention of NFL scouts, and in 1998, he signed with the St. Louis Rams.
Even after signing with the Rams, Warner’s journey was far from easy. He spent the 1998 season as a backup quarterback and was even allocated to NFL Europe, where he played for the Amsterdam Admirals. But through all these challenges, Warner remained steadfast in his faith. He believed that God had brought him this far for a reason and that his breakthrough was just around the corner.

Warner’s moment of destiny arrived in 1999 when the Rams’ starting quarterback, Trent Green, suffered a season-ending injury. Warner was suddenly thrust into the starting role, and many doubted his ability to lead the team. But Warner saw this as God’s perfect timing. He leaned on his faith more than ever, trusting that God had prepared him for this moment.
Warner led the Rams to an incredible season, earning the nickname “The Greatest Show on Turf” for their high-powered offense. He threw for 4,353 yards and 41 touchdowns, leading the Rams to Super Bowl XXXIV. In the biggest game of his life, Warner remained calm, confident, and focused on God’s presence in his life. He passed for 414 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Rams to a 23-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans. Warner was named Super Bowl MVP, and his journey from the grocery store to NFL stardom became legendary.

After his Super Bowl victory, Warner’s career had its ups and downs. He faced injuries, lost his starting job, and was eventually released by the Rams.
